The Hascombe Village Bake-Off - 3rd October 2020
A superb afternoon celebrating community and baking against all odds.....
We had a fantastic turnout - and sunshine - for our 2nd annual Village Bake Off. After a hugely successful first event in 2019 we were really unsure as to whether we would be able to run this with COVID - after many planning meetings and determination to pull it off - we did!
“What a fantastic afternoon! Thank you so much to everyone who helped to make this happen”
This year we had a brand new bread category and everything from brioche to buns but the clear standout winner was Megan Rowe with her gorgeous olive and pesto bread. Must run in the family as both daughters won best in category for show stopper and favourite cake respectively!
Over 25 entries
Pretty close to the number we had last year. All judging took place inside the hall and entries were carefully timed to adhere to guidelines. Afternoon tea and samples of bakes were served outside - we had over 40 people attending in socially distanced household bubbles. The joy on people's faces to be able to come to a community event was something we will always remember.
Thank you to everyone who came to support this.
